Hakuna Matata

When I was packing for my African trip, the toughest question of all. What camera to bring???
I really wanted to take a sx-70 or my SLR 680 SE, but I was scared they may get broken or you never know maybe we would find ourselves in the middle of a stampede and oh the horror if my little camera got broken. OK, dramatic, I know! Anyway the safest option was to pack my trusty spectra. I only had some soft tone edge cut left, would the photos even register all the animals, will they come out dull? Sooo much worry going on, Hakuna Matata Megan, let's just see what happens.

So I didn't get close ups of the animals, but I did love how the soft tones came out and kind of made everything seem magical there. Because oh my, it was!!
We were so lucky, we got to see many animals every day. It was a dream come true. Everywhere was beautiful and if you are ever wondering if you should go, DO IT! And don't worry about what camera to take, no matter what you take, the things you get to see are imprinted in your brain for ever!

All my roids for the trip are uploaded here.

Africa

As mentioned earlier, not very long ago I spend a couple of weeks making a dream come true! Getting to go on an animal safari with my very best friend.
It was wild, crazy, beautiful and just amazing! I'm slowly starting to upload some of the roids on flickr. This picture was one of my favourites. We were lucky to see 5 lionesses coming back from a hunt and stop for a drink.
More to come.....

Smile

Smile tho' your heart is aching,
Smile even tho' it's breaking,
When there are clouds in the sky
You'll get by,

If you smile
thro' your fear and sorrow,
Smile and maybe tomorrow,
You'll see the sun come shin-ing thro' for you

Light up your face with gladness,
Hide ev-'ry trace of sadness,
Al -'tho a tear may be ever so near,

That's the time,
You must keep on trying,
Smile, what's the use of crying,
You'll find that life is still worth-while,

If you just smile,

- Charlie Chaplin

It's been a little hard to smile lately. However, despite there being so much sadness around, my inner core as always trys to find the best from a situation and see the beauty in the world. Like the wonderful friends and family who have been so supportive during the past few months especially. I treasure them.
I don't think you should deny your sad feelings or push them aside. Embrace them. Cry, cry hard. Feel blue, don't be afraid to do that. Then you find something to smile about. The sadness doesn't go away but little by little it gets less and less so you can appreciate the beautiful moments.

I hope you are able to smile today!

Sadness

This blog is meant to record lovely things, inspiration for my polaroids and the general beauty I always aim to see in the day. Unfortunately in the last few months there has been quite a bit of sadness and loss around in my life.

I don't want to relive the whole story but recently our two puppy dogs were stolen from us. Taken from their family, their home and where they felt safe. We have spent weeks searching every possible way we can for them. We received reports from a couple of witnesses and have pieced together what happened. After realising they were desexed and of no use to them, the horrible people who took our boys let them free. But, not before taking their collars and tags off and letting them go in an area they didn't know and with high traffic. So very sadly our little boys are no longer alive.

My family is devasted and it is uncomphrensible how anyone could be this cruel. Whilst unfair things happen to good people, I do still believe in karma. What you put out into this world will come back to you.

Gus and Floydy were such happy, beautiful little boys and will be forever missed by our family.

If you are reading this please give your little loved ones an extra big hug tonight!

Retro & Cosmo

Just a bit of a closer look at Maria's beautiful horses Retro and Cosmo.

Maria, may angels lead you in.

These polaroids are some of my favourite ever.
They are of my very dear friend Maria's family.

Sadly, a few weeks ago Maria passed away.
Maria was one of the most beautiful people I have had the privilege of knowing in my life time.
She had the most beautiful, generous and happy soul. She took on every trial and tribulation in her life as challenge and life lesson and passed her wisdom and love to everyone she could.

It hit me the other day. Maria was my universe appointed god mother. By some cosmic occurrence, I was lucky enough to meet a stranger who was always my personal cheer leader, a teacher and true to the core, a friend. My heart is full of sadness at the loss of this treasure in my life and for the world. But, I am so thankful of the time I was given to spend time with her, to listen and learn and most of all giggle.

It's not often we meet a kindred spirit, so I encourage you to hold on tight and treasure this occurrence when it happens to you.

Maria - Strong, Crazy, Intelligent, Beautiful, Giving, Funny, Hungarian, Compassionate, Generous and always an optimist for love.

May angels lead you in my friend.
